621 Dewey - New Road/Lewes kitebording session
By admin • Jul 1st, 2009 • Category: SessionsLens: Brett Gibson, Matt Meyer, Vali Puscasu
Began the day at New Road at 9:45 a.m. Vali was getting ready to leave for a while and told me I could just ride his 9m and board for an hour while he was away. Sweet. No kite pump up!
It was gusty as heck, then just shut off around 11-ish (see wind graph below). Some people stayed out and rode out the lull (Gandee, Timmay).
Wind at New Road:

Decided to head to Comfort Point w/ some peeps. Got there around 12:30 pm (traffic sucked!) It was much cleaner wind up there. Started on a 9m and it backed down a bit so threw up the 12m. It was perfect. awesome color Pink kites and white harnesses were everywhere.
One thing to note is that part of the beach is closed off b/c of Piping Plover nests, but it was clearly marked and easy to avoid. A ranger came down and was extremely friendly. He did kick some people off the beach for having dogs with them (no dogs allowed during the summer there).
Turned out to be a great day, and was good to see so many people! I only wish it had been sunny. Packed up at 4pm and headed back to the DC area.
Phatty, get well soon!
