New Road, Delaware kiteboarding, 3.30
By admin • Mar 31st, 2009 • Category: Kiteboarding, SessionsPhotos/video: Justin Reel/Jamie/Kris10

Sarah and I showed up at New Road around 1030 and Justin and Kristin were already there getting rigged. Wind was about 15-20 out of the SW. Justin was the first on the water with his 11m Rev and I followed on my 12 M Dos. 2nd time out on my new OR Mako 150×40 - got a nice cold solo session in Lewes Saturday morning. Kite board combo was perfect for the conditions as the wind had some decent holes in it whe I first went out. The Mako is an upwind machine even light wind conditions and I never felt like I was losing ground.

Toma and Guillermo showed up right as I was launching - while they were getting their gear together the wind filled in and I was starting to get overpowered on the 12. I came in and launched Kristin on Toma’s 9m Dos. Guillermo got out on his 13 Best and Toma on an old 06Rhino 12 M C. Unfortuantely soon after we got out the wind died for about and hour as aweather system seemed to come through.

I actually thing it was because Mehdy showed up and rigged a small kite - kiss of death.. He finally rigged his 14m and the clouds cleared the wind switched to the south and filled in nicely building to the 20’s - thanks Mehdy I left around 430 and a number of other kiters had joined everyone looked like they were having a fun. Great early season session - no gloves in the afternoon ride. Actually sunburned on my face today and I can hardly sit up my stomach muscles hurt so much …fired up spring is here!!
in this video, Toma, Harmar and Guillermo.

Hi,
i’m flying into the DC area this coming Friday evening to visit my kids. The wind forecast is looking good for Saturday and was wondering if anyone could tell me where’s the best place to launch. I’ve never kited in this area but visit there fairly often and am planning on doing it more often. Just to calibrate you on what i can and cannot do: i’m not an expert but can go upwind and and and every now and then (not very often yet) i’m able to come down on my feet after a jump.
Thanks for the info,
Juan
