WOW!!!!!

9 days in Hatteras, 9 days on the water. This place is nuts. Did I say that yesterday?

Headed home now, but got to catch Gabby's visit to The Cove today. Kited it w/ Rob L. and then sat back and watched the locals GOING OFF! Greg & Sherry, Ty, & Jay were some of the fun ones to watch.

This was my first time kiting the cove. (tip of Cape Hatteras). Winds were 20-32 or so while I was out (gusts to high 30s) and then grew to 28-40 or so. Nuts. Everybody was on tiny kites and wishing for their twin tips if they didn't have them. Was a GREAT experience for me. All the lightwind ocean downwinders we did this week really helped to boost my confidence for today. I was able to navigate, through, over and in front of waves and didn't really get munched much which was nice. I also surfed my first wave on a kite which was very cool (previously, and currently, I mostly run away from the waves Smile or play in the little ones….but I actually rode a big one today and it was quite a rush).

The water was nuts…small breaks in close so I could get used to my Ozone (I'd been flying my T2s all week and this kite flies so different…took me a while to get the timing down again), then headed out into the bigger stuff. As some of the pictures show, when you went out far the water got Caribbean blue. It was just beautiful to kite in those bright blue swells and check out the scene below.

All in all, great week in Hatteras. Learned a lot. Some good wind, some great wind, some epic wind and fantastic company. So who wants to move down here with me? Very Happy

I'll clean up a bunch of trip photos later this week and post a link, but here's a few from today;
